- A warmer option for Guardala players Review by Evan Dowling
-
If you play Guardalas, or you are just a fan of that compact sound, this could be a great piece for you. This piece plays with a warmer, fatter tone than most Guardalas that I have played. Compared to the Jody Jazz DV, the Powertone is warmer but much more focused.
The Powertone has a grit to its sound that really makes it great for playing modern music and cutting through a mix. I have one in size 10 and 12 and I think the larger tip opening compliments this piece well.
Get that powerful, compact, Guardala sound for a fraction of the price. Make sure you try these out before you make your next mouthpiece purchase! (Posted on 10/5/11) - The BEST Mouthpiece That I've EVER Played!!!!!! Review by Phil French
- I've had the opportunity to have owned a number of vintage mouthpieces. {ie. Guardala, Berg Larson, Dukoff, Meyer, Otto Link, Runyon, etc.} While they all have their specific qualities, none were totally satisfying. Meaning too edgy, too loud or too dull. The Power-Tone by C.E. Winds defied all the odds. Finally a piece that I can use for all occasions. This piece is soooo warm with just enough projection to be heard in an electric music environment but enough smoothness and tone quality to play in an acoustic jazz environment. You determine the quality of a mouthpiece by if there is another mouthpiece in your gig bag. The Power-Tone is the only mouthpiece in my sax case. Seriously, "This is the best mouthpiece that I've ever owned, bar none!!!!!" The Power-Tone makes me want to play more.... (Posted on 10/5/11)
- Awesome mouthpiece! Fun to play in any situation! Review by John Michalak

The Powertone tenor piece is the best mouthpiece I've ever owned! It may sound like an overstatement or exaggeration, but the second I put it on my horn, it blew me away, with it's free blowing, full and bright (not too bright) sound. I've owned the Theo Wanne Amma 7*, Jody Jazz DV 8*, Guardala Studio Vintage Handmade .115, and this takes them ALL on, for a fraction of the prices of those.
The CE Winds Powertone can actually be played with a lot of warmth and subtlety, as well as with an aggressive, powerful brightness. This piece is truly suitable for all Jazz, R&B and Pop situations. I finally have a mouthpiece I'll be able to count on for the rest of my career! (Posted on 10/5/11)
